RANT WARNING: This is NOT rosy or heartwarming

Now let me finish the homework DNA has assigned

Your power-struggle is over, you lose, access-denied

This voice will never be silenced, time twists all we have known

Write more criteria-lists and kiss each object you own

Let the record hide The Only-Human Show

You do not remember, none will ever know

Great, thanks for all of the wasted years, go live as you planned

Now let me finish the homework DNA has assigned

  1. Feel better now? Ranting can be good to cleanse one’s soul, on occasion. I really love the line: “Now let me finish the homework DNA has assigned.” It is a very poignant, evocative and thought-provoking line. This poem is quite a powerful manifesto-like enunciation that has a striking message. “Access-denied” is an interesting concept, in how we can permit others to treat us or not treat us, we can choose how we will react to things. Other people should not be allowed to have power over us. Time does seem to have a way of twisting what we have known, as time and experience can change how we perceive things. I also enjoyed the rhyming pattern in this poem, which helps the message flow.
